Hats for my sister

My older sister has been diagnosed with a form of stomach cancer. She's going through chemo now and will be taking two more sessions, one full day session every three weeks.

I'm her closest sibling. I'm there at least 4 times a day and sometimes more. She has six cats, too! Lots of litter boxes!!!

Anyway, I made a couple of hats for her. One I made up the pattern as I went along. It's the Lipstick Red Bucket type hat and the other is Yarncat's pattern. Catherine used buttons but my sister loves flowers so I put a big rose on it. The color is light raspberry. I like this pattern a lot! At first I thought it would be too big but there is a band of sc that tightens it up. The top part is very comfy for a sensitive scalp. I used my Japanese Raku Raku hook in 9/0 wich is a 5.5mm or I sized. I got the hooks from my friend Saucy Louise.

BTW. she was born in Italy. My mother named her

Chiara ( Kee-Ah-Rah) Stella which means Clear Star.

I'm sorry to hear about your sister but having you make hats for her will brighten her spirits. Lion Brand Fun Fur makes into a great chemo hat that actually looks like a 'punk' hair cut and there's a free pattern on the web for them. They feel really cool to wear in the summertime and the champagne color looks like blond hair.
