To bleach users

Recommended Posts

In the dishcloth thread I saw that many of you use bleach. Just an FYI... if you are using it in your dish water or anything that you put your hands in do not wear your jewelry! Bleach will make at least gold porous over time and it becomes brittle and can even break. My ex-MIL had a ring break in two and she bleaches everything. I learned this from a jeweler when I got my wedding band. I don't wear my jewelry even in the swimming pool

I'm a 3rd-generation dish gloves user for this and other reasons ... one of them is because I believe the Murphy's Law that if I remove my rings to wash the dishes those same rings will somehow or other get knocked down the drain and regardless of the trap will go forever lost .... another is because dishwater is horrid on the hands.

Hint ... puff some baby powder (or cornstarch) into the gloves to make it smooth as silk to get on and off

This is true, I have lost several diamonds because of the gold getting soft and breaking off due to bleach......but my hands are to fat and I can't get my rings off.
