A unique? thread spool

I've been look for a something to hold my thread when I crochet so it unwinds off the ball rather then coming off the top.

 

I found this last summer at a local kitchen store. It's a meat pounder. I think I piad something like 12$ for it. It is heavy so stays put and looks nice on the table where it got to close to my tea ;P (see recent post)

 

It works great.

I'm not a 'threader', but something like that will probably work for my cotton 1 lb cones. Thanks for the tip

And think about it, It's a versetile (sp) tool. The fact that it's a spool holder AND a meat pounder, it's a 2 in 1 device.
