Fringe length for scarf?

What is a good length to make a fringe on a casual scarf? I am close to completing my charity scarves and was unsure about this last step.

Usually, I like about a 6-7 inch fringe... so cut your yarn to 12-14 inch lengths.

I have a DVD case that I use to wrap for my fringe. I just measured and it is 16 inches around so I guess I get an 8" fringe usually.

 

You won't tell anyone about my DVD abuse will you?

lol that sounds like me winding mine on my arm and then cutting them in half.

Personaly... I'm a no fringe kinda gal. Everything I've ever owned with fringe looks horrible after I wash it a time or two. A 4-6" fringe probably wouldn't be too bad... but I just don't like fringe....

I really like cutting 18 inch lengths and then using them folded in half in groups of three or more. I like the look of long, full tassels on scarves.

Absolutely, I use more than one strand (usually 3). I didn't mention that because I just assume that everyone would do it that way

I usually use about 3-4 strands per fringe. My fringe is usually about 7 inches long - I have a book that I use to wrap the yarn around.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I was at work when this was done, so I ended up using a box of kleenex. Came out to about 5 inches after trimming. It looks fabulous!

 

I had to add fringe to cover the goof at the beginning.

Be careful, if the fringe is too short they come undone and fall out
