Annie's Hooked on Crochet-Feb 2008 issue

After the last two issues of disappointment, I was planning on ending my subscription. I had been a faithful subscriber for years to "Hooked on Crochet" and when they merged the two magazines, the first two issues were just bad. Repeats of patterns, nothing new and amazing, etc.

So I was due to quit after this February issue. This one is great. There's a nice baby blanket, a cute little lamb, a doily and some washcloths that I want to make for the county fair.

I am pleased with this issue and will be renewing. Just giving a "heads up" on the fact that I think the issue was way better than the ones before.

That's good to hear. I get so frustrated when every issue has at least one and sometimes two patterns that have been previously printed. They don't even bother trying to jazz it up with a new picture or colors or anything. I really annoys me to pay a subscription price and not get my monies worth.

The last few issues had 4 or more "repeats" and then the new patterns were not that good. It was quite annoying. Hopefully, they are going to start with some fresh patterns.

I liked the first couple. Couldn't get the last one. Even if they are repeats, they're new to me as I hadn't bought many of the previous two magazines and they're (it) is hard to find in my area.

I looked online last week to see if I wanted to get the new one and I don't. I don't really like anything in it. The baby blanket is free this month at their site.

That's something else that bothers me. Why should I buy it if they have it for free? I'm thinking I will take your lead here, and just try to find the issue I might like when my subscription expires.

I'd already decided not to renew it. It doesn't have patterns in it that I'm interested in making and doesn't give enough patterns for the price. I think I'm going to subscribe to Crochet Today! instead.
