mis1110 Posted January 14, 2008 Count me in! (even though I'm a week and a half behind) Every year for christmas I make everyone in my family and bf's family an ornament to go with their christmas card, and this year I had found a pattern for snowflakes which used caron simply soft yarn instead of thread (thread scared me until yesterday when I attempted a valentine doily and it turned out amazing) I ended up make the thirty some I needed for everyone and kept on going deciding that in the next few years I wanted a snowflake christmas tree (I'm a theme nut) so I made 60 for myself but realized that that wasn't going to be enough (my poinsettia themed tree has over 100 flowers) so I need to make at least 40 more. And this CAL is perfect motivation!!! Here is the link to the yarn pattern I used for mine (there are three seperate snowflakes included) http://www.michaels.com/art/online/projectsheet?pid=e06327&categoryid=

sammimag Posted January 14, 2008 Sorry, before I posted I didn't realize there was a specific snowflake for each week.... ooops I don' t think it really matters. I didn't do that one this week as I had already started on two others.

yarn_monkey Posted January 15, 2008 Got mine made for this week, and I managed to make another to make up for coming in late last week. Tonight I'll be stiffening them and I'll try to take pics tomorrow. Should we stick to posting them on our blogs? Just wondering!
tangled up Posted January 15, 2008 as soon as i can figure out how to post , i will show mine. can anyone tell me how to show your wip notes at the bottom of your posts? i think its neat that everyone can see your work.

If you go to your "User CP" option at the top (dark blue bands below podcast and beside faq, all the way to the left of your screen) there is an area to "edit signature", that's where you can stick all that information
kazily Posted January 15, 2008 I'm a week & a day late & thread short but I'd like to join your Snowflake Mondays CAL if I may. I do come bearing a button if anyone would like to use it. Actually I can crochet snowflakes but I have to use #3 thread or Senseo due to chronic tendinitis. My wrists & fingers ache using small thread. I finally gave up & donated all my smaller thread stash. My first snowflakes for the CAL are a bit different & not with the pattern posted but I will try to do the pattern for this week. These were done for for a top & sewn on today. I'd like to put some white ones on a navy top but I already had a white top that was perfect for this. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92/kazily/Crafts/snowflaketop.jpg These were snowflakes for my tree this past holiday. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92/kazily/Crafts/snowflakes1.jpg
smith Posted January 15, 2008 Thanks for the cool snowflake.... Shell....what a terrific idea for the snowflakes! I just it sewn on the sweater!
suzidemars Posted January 15, 2008 They do look GREAT on the sweater! Do you stiffen first, then sew or can you just sew them on as is?
kazily Posted January 15, 2008 They do look GREAT on the sweater! Do you stiffen first, then sew or can you just sew them on as is? I didn't block the navy ones.. I pinned them on, like I was blocking them & then used navy colored sewing thread to sew them on.
tangled up Posted January 15, 2008 wow i love the sweater!! its ok with being late just tryin to get at least 1 done a week......and the button is wonderful!!
smith Posted January 15, 2008 I'm not happy with picots right now. I haven't crochet with thread for a while and it sure shows. I did get to finally see the yarn store....mostly knit stuff but I did buy 2 snowflake books! Made me feel better
