marikamum Posted November 5, 2008 :lolyou got me lost on the arms and the branches!! is that a snowflake stuck on a tree?(kidding) I have noticed that some of these snowflake patterns are really confusing!!! I thought you guys most likely have that pattern but thought I would throw it out there just incase!! I havent joined this but always pop on to see what you are doing.Lurker in the door. And that is an easy-ish (though poorly edited) one Thanks, we love having visitors... especially ones who suggest :flake:flake Hopefully I haven't confused Nila too much with my arms and branches... this is what comes of hopping on the 'puter and typing stream-of-consciousness ( oh no! now she's going on about streams! where does she crochet anyway ? ).... Nila, if I have confused you, let me/us know and we promise to get someone who can actually clarify things for you Cheers,
Nila Posted November 5, 2008 lol, actually you helped me a lot! I just finished it a few minutes ago. Using a bigger hook helped too. I wish I could find my size 7 hook, it's just perfect...lol I'll need to get a picture of it, though it's going to need a serious blocking.

I wish I could find my size 7 hook, it's just perfect...lol I'll need to get a picture of it, though it's going to need a serious blocking. Whew! I do find that most flakes improve greatly upon blocking and that is DEFINITELY one of those many! Sorry about your missing size 7 hook, I lost my only size 11 while working on a filet wallhanging for the Crochet Games in August ... I replaced it with two new ones and my good friend Cosmo included yet another in her birthday hook case to me . At the same time I ordered the 11, I ordered 2 size 9 hooks - my preferred flake size! :hook Glad to hear you've got it sorted! Can't wait to see the pic! missmaxx Posted November 9, 2008 Hi Everyone, I looked at the calander and then out my window. It really is November here in PA. Snow in the forcast and a high today of 35F. We're getting very near the end of our year in snowflakes. I've been working on making a few extras - I haven't yet mailed a package to hookerangel! Sorry hun, if you read this please know that I'm almost done ! BTW - to all flake makers:flake: Hookerangel is decorating a snowflake tree for the celebrations surrounding her daughter's wedding in December. I'm sure she'd love to hear from anyone here who may have an extra flake or two to send her way. I'm sure it would be OK to send her a PM for the address. I'm also going to nominate Carla's "snowlake" LOL for this week's pattern, http://www.crochetmagazine.com/newsletters/talkingcrochet/pages/TCNL2708_patt1.html * The cute snowlake pattern is used to decorate the cuff of the stocking. .... unless anyone else has one they'd like to suggest? :fire:fire:fire:fire:fire (can't get much warmer!) regards, :mdust:mdust:mdust:mdust Cosmo :mdust:mdust:mdust:mdust

missmaxx Posted November 12, 2008 Hi All, I've been trying to get some extra flakes finished to mail to Hookerangel. I went back through our pattern links and picked some of my favorites to do again. I found a problem on week 12. I have my completed one from back then. It looks like the picture. Problem is- the new one doesn't. On the last row I seem to be missing the shorter (star) points. My question is - have I gone nutz since March? lol How did I make the older one with these directions? lol If anyone else had/has this same problem or can help me explain it I'd love to hear from you. :fire:fire:fire:fire:fire (can't get much warmer!) regards, :mdust:mdust:mdust:mdust Cosmo :mdust:mdust:mdust:mdust
marikamum Posted November 12, 2008 (edited) Hi, Cosmo I can't categorically contradict the possibility that you have gone nutz since March , but I can lay to rest the thought that your wonky flake-making is a symptom thereof.. the pattern does NOT include the shorter star points. My suspicion is that you, as a clever fairy, supplied the missing points from your personal store of crocheting magic ... DId you keep the pattern printout from that time or did you reprint it this time around? I think this is one I never got around to making... I'll try to go back to the March posts and see if you made any comments... SO, I've reviewed that time period... you didn't make any comments on week 12, but Rachael (rstultz) did mention the lack of triangles/short star points and stated that she winged that part, so I assume you went into that one realising you'd have to wing it (it was done in your post- St Paddy's Table Topper- catchup) and in your flurry of flaking did not note your changes on your pattern. I also note that Kazily (the designer) did mention that it was an untested pattern and asked for info on any problems... Happy flaking - I sent a package to Hookerangel, but it sounds like yours will go further towards her snowflake-filled tree I only rustled up about a dozen... Cheers, :mdust Wanda :mdust Marika Hi All, I've been trying to get some extra flakes finished to mail to Hookerangel. Cheers, Marika Thanks Wanda, Yes, I have the print out from March - I use a three ring binder with sheet protectors so I have the instructions along with the actual week 12, March 23rd snowflake all on the same page. I don't remember it being a problem and my flake looks just like the picture - with the smaller points. I'm just glad you can see the same directions I see. Of course this may mean we're both nutz. Nila Posted November 16, 2008 (edited) Here's a pic of the snowflakes I've made. They're quite addicting. Sorry it's such a bad photo; my camera doesn't seem to like the white thread. If the sun ever peeks through the clouds around here (it's been trying to snow for the past several days), I'll have to try using sunlight instead of a flash. I did find my size 7 hook, I'd forgotten that I'd lent it to my sister. I bought a second one so she could keep using it and I'd have a spare in case I ever really did lose it. They are lovely. And yes they are addicting. I have real snow outside my window today. Nothing on the ground .... yet. Probably a dusting to an inch or so by morning. I also have 24 new thread flakes ready (finally!) to send to Hookerangel. If anyone else has a spare or two I'm sure she'd love to add them to her tree. Just send her a PM for her address. Glad to hear you located your hook, and that you have a backup! Great job on the flakes ... Nancy, That looks great, do you perchance have a photo of them that you can post so we can see them? Perhaps even as a reply to the designer's thread so that they will print out with the pattern? Next stretch of time I get, I'll do the update Time to go into high gear on school-bound preparations...
