Hi Wanda,

Just wondering if that was you running in stiletto heels in Sydney on the news? Great race! :lol

http://english.sina.com/world/p/2008/0902/183407.html

Hi All,

I like the pink design and the red one too - maybe a few more too. We'll have to do a couple of them over the next few weeks. What does everyone think?

I'm wondering if I'm on my way to breaking some kind of record here on crochetville. I posted my pic - legally I hope! - of my snowflakes #21- 34 over at show and tell. It's funny, 74 people have viewed them but only one left a comment! :lol I guess I left them speechless. :rofl

Oh well.

Warmest regards :fire.

Awww, Cos, why'd you have to break my cover? The only reason I dropped to the back of the pack was that I saw something glinting on the ground out of the corner of my eye, I could've sworn it was my missing size 11 steel hook... a gal's gotta check that out, right?

Maybe people like them so much they have to revisit, but the drool has shorted out their keyboards rendering them incapable of leaving a comment?

:lol

I'm all for popping several of the motifs into the mix... hopefully y'all won't revoke my CAL card due to my lack of :flakeing recently, I swear I have been quite flaky, just not snow-flakey! I'll have to get going soon, though... promise, just as soon as I clear the angel filet, a baby sweater for a friend and get going on my blanket (and finish the reject baby sweater as a sweater for my daughter's Baby Born...) I will get right to them! :rofl:think

Ah well, off to the park and then to pick up my dd from school and then to do Father's Day shopping... no rest for the :devil:lol

Cheers,

:mdustWanda:mdust

Yes, they are so stunning (sparkily too) that they were struck dumb and intimidated by your awesome needlework!

Hi,

I'll be trying one on Sunday eve or Monday- whichever one gets posted to our list on Sunday Evening. Other than the regular weekly "Snowflake Monday" pattern I don't really have much free time to work on flakes. Wish I did. I thought I was getting caught up on WIPs till I looked at the calendar.

AAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

It's already fall and almost time for :jack:skeleton:jack:ghost:jack.

Before we know it :tdance:ttalk:tdance will be here and then.....................

:ctree:wreath:sheepxmas:santa:grinch:gift:stocking:hbulb:rud:fruitcake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank goodness I have 44 :flake:flake:flake:flake:flake:flake:flake:flake

done.

Did I mention DH has a B-day soon? He'd love a Barbarian Hat with horns - I just bought the pattern on etsy.

But never fear, The voices in my head know all the stitches. :loco

I think Sven is on holidays in Fiji at the moment... but he is sure to return any day :)

If you are interested, I've posted a progress photo of my angel filet wallhanging in the Team Filet thread (I am also slowly starting to use the project facility on Ravelry... so the pic is up there as well...)

My cousin is going to kill me when she finds out how much I've printed today - all the quilting motifs that could be snowflakes, (and the one I just liked), all the snowflake patterns, PLUS all the terms, diagrams and how to follow a diagram. I've never used a diagram pattern before. But what the heck, learning a new skill is a good thing. Wish me luck.

I'll be happy to wish you luck! But you won't need it! The diagrams are very easy to read, just takes some practice. Think of it as a map.

:hugs You'll be fine. After you get the hang of reading the diagram, you may want to use it instead of words, as there is generally less confusion. :D

I got my first ball of thread and my first steel hook a few weeks back along with a 99 snowflakes book. I don't know if I really like working with the thread though =( the snowflakes are so pretty but I find the small motifs very hard to work with. It's like I'm all thumbs.

You can do it sOCKsgirl! Once you get the tension down you'll be making beautiful snowflakes with ease, and the best way to get it down is...........drum roll please.......................yep, practice. :)

If I can offer some advice... try a few patterns with a minimum number of picots like # 21,or 27 from your book. Or possibly try a slightly more "solid" center like #40, 44, or 48. You just might find yourself finding the right tension - one more thing, --Once you find it, you'll always have it. (Kind of like riding a bike!) BTW - lots of the flakes from our list are great beginner patterns too- I especially like the 10 you'll find at http://www.sarahanns.com/crochetworks/snowflakes.html - but that's just me :lol

Good luck and please let us know how you make out.

What Nancy and Cyn said ;)...

Also, feel free to work them up in yarn - or start with a larger thread and hook... What size are you using? Size 3 thread is not much different from a fine baby-weight yarn, you could work your way down to being comfortable :)... it really is worth it, though, they look so lovely in anything, but especially in the finer threads (10 or below).

I need to go attend to my little ones, but will be back to join the cheering squad :D:cheer

Oops, reread message, I'll now pick one of the flakes from the flake document...

You will need to download the whole document in pdf form...

I vote for the first flake - page 2 of the document.

I'll follow this up with an updated list post.
