"snowflake mondays" a past post i had seen UPDATE WEEK #4

tangled up

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Anyone planning on posting a flake this week? I've found an online source for the first snowflake I did last year (still one of my faves)... so I'm happy to post if no-one else had one in the pipeline.

:)

Hi, Marika. I found one, but I want to try it out first, before submitting it to others. It may not be worth the effort. It looks pretty, but the directions sound a little (or a lot) on the tough side.

Hi Everyone,

There's a possibility of some downtime soon

( http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?p=1266828#post1266828 ) so if you have a flake picked out, I'd say "Go for it!"

According to the notice from Donna the downtime won't be long but it's possible it will be sometime today.

Thanks for the update, Nancy... Linda, then I'll go this week and you can decide on your flake for next week, maybe?

My flake is from an earring pattern, but I reckon if you insert an ornament hanger rather than an earring back... hey presto! :)

Another note, for purists, this flake is 12 pointed rather than 6 pointed, so if you are a 6-point purist, I apologise.

So, here is the Snowflake Earring Pattern.

Updated list:

Week #1: http://www.angelfire.com/pe/shellangels/Crochet.html(Snowflake 1) (NB: Round 3 correction - "dlst" should read "sl st".)

Thanks for the new pattern! I'll work on it tonight.

Rachael, ouch! Take care of your finger. I hope it heals quickly. You may need a finger splint if you are pretty sure it's broken. I have broken a pinky finger before & fingers very painful for small things they are. Soaking in epsom salt helps a little too for swelling. This is is you don't get it xrayed & in that case follow Drs orders.

Dh taped it to my middle finger so I can't move it. I really feels ok as long as it is splinted. When I untape it, ooooooh, it hurts!

Oh, Rachael. Get it checked out please. You don't want it to heal crocked if it is broken, because then it would give you problems for the rest of your life. Take care! :hug :hug :hug

Hi All,

I'm leaving for a week or so starting Thursday s I'll miss this week's pattern on Sunday.

If I get near a keyboard I might get a chance to check in. I just might need a fix!

See you around the 17th.

Happy crocheting,

Hi All,

Thanks for all your good wishes re/ my vacation. My sister and I are home safe. We had a great time. Saw lots of family and friends, and met a few new additions along the way too.

Did I miss something? There doesn't seem to be a new flake this week. Can I suggest one? How about the second pattern here-

http://au.lifestyle.yahoo.com/b/better-homes-gardens/638/light-as-a-feather-snowflakes/

It says use a smaller thread - size 40, 30, or 20 rather than the 10 I've been using, but I think we're ready to try a little more of a challenge. What do you think?

Size 10 may be OK too. I should note I haven't tried this one yet.

Welcome back, Nancy! :) No, you are not missing anything - we are - a week's snowflake :P... but not any longer, that looks great. I did notice noone had posted, but I did not have a flake in readiness so I just kind of ignored it :blush Thanks for your suggestion :yay

I propose the snowflake from the snowflake ornament pattern (omit base, unless you want the base :)...) here.

That would bring us to:

Week #1: http://www.angelfire.com/pe/shellangels/Crochet.html(Snowflake 1) (NB: Round 3 correction - "dlst" should read "sl st".)

Week #2: http://www.sarahanns.com/crochetworks/snowflakes.html (Snowflake Pattern #3)

Week #3: http://members.aol.com/lffunt/picsnow.html Snowflake 3

Week #4: http://susaninstitches.blogspot.com/...-snowfake.html

Week #5: http://www.sarahanns.com/crochetworks/snowflakes.html (Snowflake Pattern #4)

Week #6: http://karpstyles.com/crochet/snow.html

Week #7: http://marikamum.blogspot.com/2008/0...snowflake.html

Week #8: http://www.bhg.com/bhg/story.jsp?sto...7884233661.xml (Star Snowflake - third one)

Week #9: http://www.jpfun.com/patterns/free/o...nowflake.shtml

Week #10: http://www.bhg.com/bhg/story.jsp?sto...7200352640.xml(NB: Chain 10 and sl st into first chain to form ring to start snowflake.)

Week #11: http://hometown.aol.com/stitchvvwitch/page10.html

Week #12: http://kazpooh.blogspot.com/2008/03/...starflake.html

Week #13: http://www.sarahanns.com/crochetworks/snowflakes.html (snowflake pattern #7)

Week #14 http://members.aol.com/SAG55/trcsnow.html

Week #15: http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/christmas/cp6.html

Week #16: http://hollerbears.com/snowflakeframe.html

Week #17: http://cstitcher.tripod.com/xmas/snowflake2.html

Week #18: http://www.creativepartnersllc.com/P...keEarring.html

Week #19: http://au.lifestyle.yahoo.com/b/better-homes-gardens/638/light-as-a-feather-snowflakes/ (Snowflake 2)

Week #20: http://www.modadea.com/patterns/WM1012.htm (Snowflake, omit base)

Not to jump in too quickly, but didn't want us to miss again this week!

Linda, how did the pattern you were testing work out? Shall we expect that for next week?

Cheers all (one of these days I'll get back to actually MAKING these little lovelies ;)).

Sorry about my snowflake. I've been having kidney problems and doctor visits and tests and such got in the way of trying it out. I'll try to get it done up this week. It uses beads, but can be done without the beads, so I'm hoping to do it both ways and see which works the best.
