Thank you Wanda!

My pleasure :) I've also just finished scanning the thread for unused flake suggestions to use for next year (and perhaps the final 2 weeks of this year :eek only 2 weeks left!!!)

I think I am avoiding tidying away ends on the flakes I made for my daughter's teacher gifts... it is gratifying that she picked my snowflake design as the one she wanted to give to her main (and most beloved) teacher :manyheart...

Cheers,

:mdustWanda:mdust

This sounds like a great idea and I love thread crochet. Will you do this again in 2009 with a whole new set of snowflakes? I really want to join.

That is the plan, Karen, and we'd love to have you! Feel free to hang out and try out some of the 2008 flakes for the end of the year if you have any time free in the Silly Season :D...

Cheers,

Hi All,

And welcome to week # 52! :D

I found this link in show and tell. I'm not real sure why it's there - It's a recommendation for the link but no finished flake is there. ???

Anyway....... check it out

http://crochet.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?site=http://www.geocities.com/cherilynm

and click on the "new crochet lace snowflake"

I want to change my mind about this one now that I've tried to make it!

It may just be me but I'm having lots of trouble following the pattern.

Someone else should suggest the week's pattern and I'm going to try to figure this one out - maybe for a future week. ?

It's a lovely snowflake. I haven't made one yet so I can't vouch for the instructions ... yet. I hope to try it this afternoon while I watch the Steelers. One thing I can see already: The directions are long... 3 pages for a 5 round snowflake, but it may be the designer wanted to explain in detail. Also, it uses a "magic loop" to start. I myself, like the magic loop but not everyone does.

If you think it's a sutible flake for #52 please let us hear from you.

I'm looking forward to starting another year of snowflakes.

Does anyone have more suggestions for names for the thread?

Lets hear em.

Yours ever,

:fire:fire:fire:fire:fire:fire:fire:fire:fire:fire:fire:fire:fire:fire:fire:fire:fire:fire:fire:fire:fire:fire:fire:fire:fire:fire:fire:fire,

Hi All,

I hope my "karma" is fixed today and I can post the week's pattern without screwing it up. Cross your fingers, here goes........

http://imahappyhousewife.blogspot.com/2008/08/snowflake-pattern-thread-crochet.html

I found this at CPC and really liked it. I'll even go ahead and nominate it for week 52. What does everyone think?

:fire:fire:fire:fire:fire:fire:fire regards,

Both of these snowflakes look great. When I printed the second one, about 2/3 of the last row of instructions didn't print so I went back to the original and hand wrote out the missing part.

I have found two snowflakes that I think would be good for weeks 1 & 2 of 2009. They are also from CPC and use 4mm beads. The first uses 6 and the second one uses 12. They are both pretty and dainty. They are both found here: http://www.daintycrochet.com/Highlightsnow.html

:hug

Thanks, Cosmo!

My computer monitor up and died on Sunday morning and is now in at the shop awaiting a part for repairs (taking the whole computer with it, being a laptop and all :)...):eek...

You made a fine finish for the 2008 CAL :D.

I was hoping to start the new thread on January 1, but as I am on borrowed time - using a library compouter with 23 minutes remaining, I will open the thread today, but will wait until Monday, of course to post the first flake :).

Linda, we've actually used the bead highlight snowflakes this year - as the replacement flake for week 36 and again for week 41 - they are lovely, though :hook... I am planning to post the 2008 list for reference in the 2009 thread - hopefully somewhere on the first page, but not in the first post (or the second if Nancy manages to grab that spot as backup :D:2magic)...

If I don't see you guys for a few days, Happy New Year one and all!

Cheers,

I must have missed them. That was when our home computer wouldn't hook up to the internet. I'm going to go through the list again and make sure that I have printouts of all the flakes for this year. :yay Happy New Year! :yay
