Well, I left one end open enough that you can slide the candy cane out...so you could just replace it.

That is a very pretty candy cane cover. I would have never thought of making something like that. I especially like the flowers..its just wonderfully made!!!

Maybe you could use something like pipe cleaners twisted together and bent into the shape of a candy cane for something a bit more permanent?
