The book Crochet in No Time by Melody Griffiths has a lacy cardigan. It is more of a v-neck than a round neck. In the pictures it looks like it would button, but the pattern doesn't say anything about buttons, so I guess they just pinned it together for the photos (?) http://www.amazon.com/Crochet-No-Time-Melody-Griffiths/dp/1904991416/ref=pd_ybh_2/102-3266867-2639367?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=17QBYH4X58M34MHHYY2N&pf_rd_t=1501&pf_rd_p=280800601&pf_rd_i=ybh It is sizes 32-42,, uses a G hook.

Everyday Crochet by Doris Chan has several open front cardigans http://www.amazon.com/Everyday-Crochet-Wearable-Designs-Just/dp/0307353737/ref=pd_ybh_11/102-3266867-2639367?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=17QBYH4X58M34MHHYY2N&pf_rd_t=1501&pf_rd_p=280800601&pf_rd_i=ybh They go up to a size 50 or so and use larger hooks, I and J, do have a lacy look.

Tahki has a pattern book with this cardigan (Bali), which I think is by Doris Chan, at least it looks a lot like the cardigans in Everyday Crochet http://www.tahkistacycharles.com/dyn_prod.php?p=CRO07&pb=CRO07-019

I think the Fawne pattern by French Girl is really pretty http://www.jimmybeanswool.com/secure-html/onlinegen/currgen/FrenchGirl/FrenchGirlKnitandCrochetPatterns.asp?showLarge=true&specPCVID=7910

None of these are made with the small thread like the one you posted--that seems quite hard to find patterns for these days--but maybe some have the same feel.

You could probably even design one yourself, if you're courageous enough. Try finding some smaller motifs, perhaps on CPC or Celtwich's sites. For example, try the motif used in the Summer Snowflake Tablecloth, which is a very open pattern. If using a smaller thread (less than size 10), you should be okay with this motif. If using a size 10 thread, make 5 motifs for the neckline, putting them together in a semi-circle. Work in a ripple pattern on one edge of the line, working in space for sleeves, and continue in the ripple pattern until mid-waist. Work enough motifs to fit around the waist, attaching them where needed, a couple more rows of ripple, then work a (ch 5-7, sc) pattern all the way across, continuing the ripple pattern. Add small circle motifs, another row of the netting, a row of ripples, a row of netting, another row of circles, a row of netting, and it looks like perhaps 2-3 more rows of ripples. Repeat this pattern for the sleeves until the length desired, and edge the neckline and front with a row of dc, adding button holes wherever needed. It's a lovely sweater...I might have to make a similar one, myself. ;)
