Ever feel like you need to make something just for YOU? Well, many ladies have expressed an interest in making their very own "blankie" or other goody, so here's the deal aboout the "ME" CAL.

Let us know if you want to join in and what colors/pattern you'll be using. As we get going we'll try and post links to free patterns and also encourage each other. As is the tradition, we'll also be posting pictures of our progress on Fridays, if possible.

We're here for any questions, suggestions or whatever...just remember: this one's for YOU!

Most everyone has said they want to make a blanket, but again (I'm so easy), whatever it is you've been putting off making for yourself will "qualify" you for this CAL!

There's no pressure or deadlines...you can join us as you whittle down your Christmas list, or whenever you need to take care of just you!

Now, let's have fun!:yay :yay

Here are what some of us are working on...just to add to the confusing decision-making process!!

Judy

Thank you for stepping in to start this one ! ( I wasn't wussing out, I would have done it, but to tell you the truth, I'm just as glad YOU did ! ) :lol

I'm in, of course. :)

I have an IDEA for what I may be making -- let me get my colors in order and see what I have to work with, then will let you all know .

THIS should be fun, I get in on the ground floor and don't have to lead it, sounds like a plan to me .:yes

Count me in for ME :hug I'm not sure what I'll make or with what I'll make it but I'm making it :lol I am thinking maybe a collection of the dreamcatcher squares in different cool colors in Caron SS (blues, greens, purples) or maybe something in jiffy with an angora type mix (if I can find the yarn at a decent price maybe this done up to ME size?? http://cache.lionbrand.com/patterns/BK4K-0604002.html it looks so soft and yummy) Or maybe something in various textured squares (I'm thinking maybe all in blues and use jiffy and fluffy stuff and ? as long as they are all washable) I'm busy thinking and this may work out well since I have some assignments to grade this afternoon so having my mind wander all over the place thinking about yarn and ME will be nice :manyheart )

This evening the hubby and I are going shopping so I shall be on the look out for ME yarns :hug

Judy, can I join if my blankie is alweady in pwagress?

SURE! It's all about YOU!!!:D
Thawee, I mithpelled bwankie. Okay, enough of that; don't think I can keep it up!

My blankie is a 3SUB (Oh, I just read where it doesn't have to be a blankie!) Well, it's gonna be a blankie, I guess. Anyway, there's no pattern. 3SUB stands for 3 strands ugly blanket--it's a scrap yarn project, although they can come out very pretty. Now mine, since I'm partially colorblind, there's no telling what might happen. It just might be ugly!

You can use an N, O or P hook. Do they make an O? I'm using a P but next time I think I'll use an N, I don't know. They come out pretty thick and are very warm! So, if you're in a warm climate or it's summer where you are, you may want to use cotton...maybe a sport yarn weight cotton, with a smaller hook, of course. Anyway, with 3 strands of different colored yarn, you chain however wide you want to, then for 1st row, dc in 4th ch from hook and dc in each chain across. 2nd row: dc in every dc and repeat until you have it as big as you want.

I'll have to get the specs for you later on as to colors I'm using and how many rows I used each set of 3.. So far I have 22 rows and used 8 different yarns. I carried one color from one group of rows to the next group.

Everybody have fun and make something for YOU!

Oh! What a cool group so far! Quite a few "faces" I spend time with every day -- one, angelfire, that I don't get to spend enough time with -- and some new friends to make: Carol and Stephanie (makes me think of No. 5 is Alive!).

I'd love to join. I try to make myself something every couple months... but dont' always get to it.

Right now I've started a half granny shawl. It will be for when I'm in the hospital with the baby and for nursing/covering up on cold days. I'm using RH Heathers in Purple.

Oh the 3SUB might be another idea for me to make for ME :manyheart . Good idea Jeannie! But I think I might actually plan it out and keep all of the colors in the cool part of the spectrum (No black, bown, orange, yellow and use all blues, greens, purples and pinks - just because I like those colors too). I made one before (chain 103 or so and kept going until it was long enough to cover my 6 foot tall hubby nose to toes) and used all scraps and an N hook. It worked up really quick. Maybe I'll make that for myself and start with ch 50ish and make it long enough to cover me (5'6'') nose to toes. I'll have to check my stash :devil

Hi Megan! When is your baby due? 1st one? I'm nosy!

Baby Alex isn't due until Late June. S/he will be our 2nd and last. I'm 5 weeks today, but hubby and I already know the names. Alexander if it's a boy, Alexis if it's a girl. So it's Alex either way :lol
