Someone selling others patterns- Do they belong to any Cville members??

Recommended Posts

I found this Etsy site today while looking at different crochet there. Anyhow I cam across this one in particular. She has a ton of PDF patterns for sale. A lot of them look familar to me, but I can't seem to place them.

This pattern in particular is avaliable for free.

Here it is listed for free on the internet.

She is even using the same picture from the website. She just cut part of it out.

Anyhow, I thought maybe some others would recognize some of the patterns. And if there are any that may belong to some of our members here.

A lot of them look like pages from a book/magazine.

I can't view this one at work, is it the same as the one she is selling?

The person has another shop on iOffer too http://www.ioffer.com/selling/karebare?cat_id=405000

The Garfied patterns are from a book. Here is a link to a sale at an ebay store, not english...

I know for a fact that the Christmas carolers is out of a leaftlet. I own it. Here is one like it for sale on ebay. The Friendly witch pattern is out of a booklet too. I'm at work so I can't tell you which one...but I own that too. I would think that this would be a copyright infringement since she is selling multiple copies of a pattern...not the original.

Laurie the Lion is also from a booklet that I bought years ago when I first learned to crochet. I remember that one specifically because it was the first stuffed animal I had ever made.

From that same booklet:

Mark the Mouse

Frederick the Frog

Oliver the Owl

Lucky the Lamb

Billy the Bear

Cuddle Baby Bunny (in her sold listing) is also from a leaflet that includes the bunny pattern and an afghan pattern. Bought that one awhile ago too.

The horse and unicorn pattern is my Clop and Ali pattern which appeared in Crochet World in 2004. Allfreecrafts has it up illegally. The copyright belongs to Crochet World. This is theft on both parties' parts.

Looks like either the seller took it down, or etsy just yanked it...

Those of you who own the leaflets or pattern books, perhaps you should contact the publisher (provided the publisher is still in business) and let them know what's going on.

The Christmas carolers is also in a book, probably the same publisher (from the 70's I think). I've had a set that someone else made since the 80's. Just because something is 30+ years old, you can't sell it as your own. She should be ashamed. If you know how, get her site kicked off the net.

I thought she was just selling the page taken out of a book/magazine. Which I believe is legal as long as she is sending the original and not making copies. But she's making a PDF of the pattern and selling multiple copies. Which is a copyright violation.

Her friendly witch is from Celebrate the Holidays by Leisure Arts little books.

She took it off, but she had a pumpkin queen that was free on freepatterns.com

The wicker furniture for Barbie is from Annie's attic.

This person is unbelievable.:no

Can't believe this. Several of those patterns i made many years ago. Most out of English books. And the carolers and the mouse, i have that too. The one with the 3 different size rabbits, used to make them for baby gifts, many moons go. I believe that was out of an English book too. Sheesh! Jan.

From the following Book "Crochet Collection" A Leisure Arts Publication

The "Cuddly Baby Bunny" is from Pages 86-88

Pumpkin- 3 Sizes Pages 116-117

Friendly Witch (In Book actually Tricksie The Witch) Pages 118-122

That's all I could find right off, she even used the pics I have in the book I own. The book may sound familiar to some, it has the American Flag on the front cover.

Grrrrr what is going on with people lately, this is just wrong.

I found the link to leisure arts and sent them an email with the information that all of you put here. I told them that you all found it. I hope they take care of it. But I think that is all we can do at this point.

Everyone be proud for watching out! :cheer

I thank you as I'm one of them who posts my patterns for free.

Her 'Caity Cat' & 'Elvis Elephant' are from a book with more patterns in it ~ so they aren't hers to sell that way, I just can't remember the name of the book, I used to have it but gave it away.

Etsy needs to check her out for sure.
