Shells Wristlet Bag

 

 

La Espiga nylon cord, 1 spool

H/5mm crochet hook

Stitches needed:

Slip stitch (sl st)

Single crochet (sc)

Single crochet decrease (sc dec)

Double crochet (dc)

Note: worked in continuous rounds, do not join or turn work until you get to the straps.

 

Chain 16

 

Round 1- sc in 2nd chain from hook and in each of next 13 stitches (14 sc made), work 3 sc in last stitch, working in other side of foundation chain, sc in each of next 13 stitches. 3 sc in last stitch.

 

Round 2- 2 sc in turning chain (corner turned), sc in each of next 13 stitches, 2 sc in each of next 3 stitches (corner turned), sc in each of next 14 stitches.

 

Round 3- 2 sc in each of next 3 stitches (corner turned), sc in each of next 15 stitches, 2 sc in each of next 3 stitches (corner turned), sc in each of next 16 stitches.

 

Round 4- * 2 sc in next stitch, 1 sc in next stitch *, repeat from * to * two more times, sc in each of next 16 stitches, * 2 sc in next stitch, 1 sc in next stitch *, repeat from * to * two more times, sc in each of next 15 stitches.

 

Round 5- * 2 sc in next stitch, 1 sc in next stitch *, repeat from * to * three more times, sc in each of next 17 stitches, * 2 sc in next stitch, 1 sc in next stitch *, repeat from * to * three more times, sc in each of next 19 stitches.

 

Round 6- * 2 sc in next stitch, 1 sc in each of next 2 stitches *, repeat from * to * two more times, sc in each of next 19 stitches, * 2 sc in next stitch, 1 sc in each of next 2 stitches *, repeat from * to * two more times, sc in each of next 26 stitches.

 

Round 7- place stitch marker in next stitch to mark as beginning of round, sc in each stitch around.

 

Round 8- * skip next 2 stitches, 5 dc in next stitch, skip next 2 stitches, sc in next stitch (shell made)*, repeat from * to * around to first shell.

 

Round 9-Round 24- * skip next 2 stitches, 5 dc in next stitch (in top of shell of previous round), skip next 2 stitches, sc in next stitch *, repeat from * to * around for 16 rounds moving stitch marker after each round.

 

Work one more shell moving stitch marker to end of this shell.

 

Round 25- sc in each stitch around up to stitch marker.

 

First Strap

 

Row 1- sc in each of next 15 stitches, ch1, turn.

 

Row 2- sc dec in first 2 stitches, sc in each of next 11 stitches, sc dec in last 2 stitches ( 13 stitches made), ch 1, turn.

 

Row 3- sc in each stitch across, ch 1, turn.

 

Row 4- sc dec in first 2 stitches, sc in each of next 9 stitches, sc dec in last 2 stitches ( 11 stitches made), ch 1, turn.

 

Row 5- repeat row 3.

 

Row 6- sc dec in first 2 stitches, sc in each of next 7 stitches, sc dec in last 2 stitches ( 9 stitches made), ch 1, turn.

 

Row 7- repeat row 3.

 

Row 8- sc dec in first 2 stitches, sc in each of next 5 stitches, sc dec in last 2 stitches ( 7 stitches made), ch 1, turn.

 

Rows 9 and 10- repeat row 3.

 

Finish off.

 

Second Strap

 

Row 1- on body of bag after first strap, skip 1 stitch, join yarn with a sl st in next stitch, ch 1, sc in same stitch, sc in each of next 14 stitches (15 stitches made), ch 1, turn. Note: this row may be worked over tail of yarn.

 

Row 2- repeat as for first strap rows 2 through 10, do not finish off.

 

Rows 11 through 22- sc in each stitch across (7 stitches made), ch 1, turn.

 

Row 23- sc in each stitch across (7 stitches made), finish off.

 

Third Strap

 

Work same as for second strap.

 

Fourth Strap

 

Row 1- on body of bag after first strap, skip 1 stitch, join yarn with a sl st in next stitch, ch 1, sc in same stitch, sc in each of next 14 stitches (15 stitches made), ch 1, turn. Note: this row may be worked over tail of yarn.

 

Rows 2 through 10- work same as for first strap.

 

Finish off.

 

Finishing

 

Sew or crochet tops of straps together (short to short, long to long).

 

Work a sc edging around strap openings.

 

Pull long strap through short strap.

Wow!! That is "tres jolie"!! Quite attractive and looks like it can be used for dressier occassions. Where do you get your cording?? I can't find much around Florida, unless it's at Home Dept!!:think

Knittykim, I get my nylon cord at Hobby Lobby. Wal-Mart also has some but only in black or white. I haven't found an online source yet, but, if anyone else knows of one please share.

Thanks so much Danielle for the pattern. I've been wanting to make one of these but in the round. It is working up so easy. I'm on the 3rd strap and hope to finish today. I'm going to take it to my crochet get together tomorrow night to show it off.
