Afghan Edging

JulieKay

Question

Hi Everyone

A group of ladies at our local library is making a large afghan out of the 7 x 9 Warm Up America Squares in our team colors, red, white and black to donate this summer for a raffle to raise money for the library. I will be putting it together , and would like to know if someone out there might have a neat idea for an edging to use for the completed afghan ? I usually make a shell type border around these , but thought shells would look too girly around a possible football -game blanket .

Do any of you have an idea for a good edging for a manly looking blanket ?

Thanks for any help !

I think a few rows of a solid color, maybe in sc or hdc, followed by a faux blanket stitch in a contrasting color, would look nice. To do a faux blanket stitch, you just sc, ch-1, skip 1 sc, and sc in the next sc all the way around. It works up pretty fast, too.

If you need a pic, I can take one from an afghan I have. :)
