labels after winding yarn cakes?

Hi. I recently bought a yarn winder and love it. The only problem is what do you do with the label after you wind it? I want to keep the label with it, so I've been folding it up and sticking it in the middle of the cake, but then have to remove it when I use it and remember to put it back. Most times the cake is too wide to put the label around it.

 

What do you do? Thanks!

I add a piece of plain paper to the label and tape it around the cake. I can always make the label smaller by just cutting off strips from the plain paper and reapplying as the center pull gets larger.

Put the label on the cake and wrap a rubber band around it.

I do it the way JoAnn does, since I hold the cake together with a wide rubber band I just slip the label under it.

I use cheap no name ziplocs. I put the yarn and the label in. It allows the yarn to stay clean, keeps the label, and keeps curious kids from unwinding it while I am working. I just feed it through either a cut corner or from the top that i leave open just enough for the yarn.
