I went to one of the open houses last year..really cool! Lots of raw fleece, alpaca yarn, rovings and several scheduled educational talks (felting, spinning, knitting ect...) There were also lots of cute live alpacas

Here are the dates: September 22 and 23 (Saturday and Sunday), 10-5 on Saturday and 10-4 on Sunday.

Here's what the postcard says about this event: Learn about fiber, ranch management, tax issues and fiber prep and processing. Products available: fleece, batts, sweaters, hats, gloves, scarves, etc. Alpaca activities: juvenile performance and obstacle. There will be 28 ranches worth of alpacas, alpacas and more alpacas.

 

Once you're in the fairgrounds, look for the Events Arena which is located south, up on the hill. Free parking and admission. Indoor arena.

Just a reminder that Alpacas on the Rocks is this weekend (September 22-23) at the Jefferson County fairgrounds. I'm heading up there in a few minutes (about 15 miles away). It runs until 5pm on Saturday and it's 10-4 on Sunday.
