Hey there. I'm new to crochetville; wondering who is out there who is near me... I'm in Sonoma County/Wine Country, a little north of San Francisco; any other northern Californias out there?

:)

I drive through there on the way to visit my parents in Mendocino. I live in Turlock.

I used to live in Mendocino and Fort Bragg back in the mid 70's early 80's..Did you go to school there at all?

No, I grew up in the central valley (modesto.) My parents moved to Mendocino almost 3 years ago. So, I take the drive there atleast once a month. I am going to go there in June and sell some of my crochet stuff at a craft faire there. I wish I lived there. It is gorgeous and there is lots to do there if you enjoy the outdoors.

What I remember yes there was lots to do around there. My parents were there just two years ago and said its so over populated now than what it was when I grew up there. Take a drive down on 10 mile road in Fort Bragg, that is a nice drive right along the ocean.. I always loved hanging out at bare butt beach(that is what everyone back in those days called it, since you would see so many nude ppl around..lol) its down by Mendocino.. Is the cheese store still there? They always had yummy cheese and than go right down to the bakery and yum get fresh bread take a walk to the beach..

I haven't seen a cheese store, but my mom would know. I try to avoid a lot of the shops in Mendo. However, I did recently go into the yarn store there and the one in Fort Bragg. That was lots of fun, although I had no money to buy anything.

I am sure that area has grown, just like every area that I lived in, the population is just booming. I think the traffic is bad in Fort Bragg because they have been working on the bridge there and it seems to always be down to 1 lane.

I am going there Father's Day weekend and will be entering my crocheted items into a Craft Faire. The theme is ocean, so I am starting to taylor some of my work to reflect that theme. How? I don't know...but maybe I will embelish with shell beads or give them ocean names.

I'm originally from Northern California. I think a s'n'b would be fun. Maybe in Novato or San Rafael!! I'll be there in June/July (not that I expect anyone to work around me) LOL!! :D

Well, Fairfield is as close as anyone is to me--I'm near Santa Rosa, so that's like an hour away--not too bad! It'd be great to get together this summer when Bec comes home from Australia. Cocoa sounds great! :mug

I'm in San Francisco. We have an active chapter of CGOA that meets once a month on the first Sunday of the month (unless we decide otherwise :lol and move it to the second Sunday of the month). We meet at a neat yarn shop called Imagiknit from 3:30 to 6:30pm . Everyone is invited to attend and I would love to see some of the people from Crochetville at our meetings.:hook We often have a crochet program which you can participate in if you want to -- or just come & crochet and talk. I know some of you are far from S.F. but if you're ever in the city, please come and visit.

We have a calendar that I keep up for all of our Northern California chapters (we also have meetings in Redwood City, San Jose and San Leandro besides the San Francisco chapter). Our calendar is located at:

I always feel "stuck in the middle again" when someone says Northern or Southern California. I'm in Contra Costa County, about 40 miles from and a bit inland from San Francisco.
