Is there a smaller infant/toddler size version of this blanket? My nieces visit their grandparents regularly and I think these would make perfect gifts for xmas! I also have 2 baby gifts to make before nov and a small one would be great to stick in a diaper bag.

It would be very easy to make smaller, just leave off 3,6,or 9 shells when you start across and it will get smaller, then just make it as many rows long as you want, adjust the size of the straps to go around it rolled and it will work.....When it make it full size it is 18 shells across so go down by 3 so it will fold evenly in thirds....make sense??

What a neat idea. DS has "adopted" a couple grandmas and this woulda be great for them. We do several outdoor activities at church and these ladies freeze when everyone else is gulping gatorade. :) I think you just helped them get an extra nice christmas present.

Thanks for sharing.

And you really can make this longer, if you need it bigger, just make more rows or/and add more shells in sets of three..... Thanks for all the nice compliments.....Good luck on your travelghans, I have to make 4 for Christmas for my DGK's...

I would like to thank you for sharing this wonderful pattern. I am in the process of making afghans to donate to Blankets for the Gulf. I understand you can make this any size...was wondering if anyone knows what size the written pattern makes.

Sincerely,

Laura in TX

Gosh, sorry I never did think to measure, I am at the casino now with my mom, but I will measure a couple of the ones I have at home when I get home tomorrow and let you know. I have made this both with WW weight yarn and also with Sugar & cream yarn so I will give you both......
