Double Strand of WW = Super Bulky Weight yarn?

I just bought the latest Crochet Today magazine, and I want to make the Chunky Lace Capelet which is on the cover. It calls for RH Grande (#6 super bulky weight yarn). However, I'm visualizing the capelet in two contrasting strands of yarn. Would two strands of #4 worsted weight work? Would that be too heavy? Or too light? What about #2 sport weight yarn? Should I use three strands of yarn together? :blush

As always, many thanks. :hug

I'm just kind of guessing here, but I don't think two strands of worsted weight would be as thick as super bulky weight. I think three strands would give you closer to the right gauge.

I just tested this for a pattern of mine (I justed LB thick and quick, but wanted to offer an alternative. It took me three strands of woolease worsted to equal one strand of the thick and quick, which is a cyca#6.

I would go with three to start, and check your gauge:)
