Fall Hat from Vintage Pattern

I made this hat from a free vintage pattern using the Vanna's Choice yarn from Lion Brand in Rust and Taupe. It was pretty quick to make (I used a J hook) and I love how it looks like little colored squares on the top.

I liked the Vanna's Choice yarn - it was a little thicker than other medium weight yarns, so I think it would be nice for any project where you want a more bulky look. Interesting, all the color choices except for white/black were in the spring/autumn color range (a la Color-Me-Beautiful), which is neat if you're looking for some new colors to play with, or if you're making clothing items and that is your palette.
