C'ville = kazily

Ravelry= SudiAnala (Cherokee for Hook Dance)

hey I needed an original name because there are tons of "Shell's" out there especially in crochet with a stitch named after us shells :lol I am part Cherokee so it makes sense. I would have used my name in Cherokee but u yas ga doesn't sound very pretty a name or id :P I joined the Crochetville group there. Ravelry rocks!

For those waiting, they are inviting a lot each day, I think around 500-600 or more so it is not as long as it seems if you are waiting for thousands ahead of you. I kept track a little so that I could calculate about when to watch for my invite.

In the meantime you can get prepared by:

  • INVENT a unique username that will not be already taken :D

  • Open a Flickr account if you do not already have one...Ravelry only works with Fickr, not Photobucket yet. Add your crochet projects pics to your Flickr account.

  • If you want to list your stash, start writing down every skein or ball you have, including the brand, colors, weights, etc. & take pics of each (I chose to skip the pics process & just list my stash by name). We all know what Caron SS or RH SS looks like lol...if I bought a lot of hand painted yarn or speciality yarn I might add pics.

  • Write down all your hooks (& needles if you knit too). These steps will save time having to go back & forth to your stash to enter your information, when all you want to do is look at projects on Ravelry! :)

I wish I had taken this advice someone else offered lol!

Be prepared also to add lots of WIM's to your ever growing list once you get to Ravelry. :hook

Received my invite last week and finally had time to cruise the site. Got completely focused on looking at patterns and comments about yarn. Great site and lots of fun. What talented people the members are. I'm Annalace on Ravelry.

Me, too, as of last week. But the boards aren't organized that well (IMO only) so I seem to spend a lot of time going nowhere over there. But I'm DesertCrocheter over there, too, to minimize confusion. (I haven't posted anything yet.) I was really hoping someone would have made the knitted shawl I have agonized over for 1 year and half, but no one has. :jack Patty

You may have figured this out already but just in case you haven't. You can arrange the groups you join. Go to forums and click on rearange. You can create additional tabs and put group togeter in the tabs.

I have things sorted by crochet, knit, both, CAL/KALs, socialish things like harry potter, books etc.

Anyway it really helps to sort out what you are in the mood to read though.

Didn't take as long as I expected ...

I'm SnoPeach there as well - it's easier to keep track of the alter-ego when there's only one. Seems like there's so many sites that want you to register - I find it easier to re-use the same screen name so I only have to keep track of passwords!

Yeah it didn't take long I might as well say I don't have to follow how they say who is in front of you and what number you is because I was like 4,000 and something and it only took me about 3 weeks to get on so it didnt' take long.

I am also Lesalicous on there as welll.

I just joined, too, and I've added my books (I put a link to my more complete library on my blog - ravelry told me about the Library!), and am starting to add my FOs and am adding stuff to my favorite projects.

This is going to be great to really decide what I'm going to make and get organized.

Can't wait until it's fully functional!

I had an invitation to join as well - I went over to have a look, but I got completely and utterly lost! - I have absolutely no idea at all what to do there.

lol - maybe I'm just agaraphobic in huge places - and it made my computer screen freeze up as well, so I don't think I'll bother with it.

I have the same user name there as I have here - sail149

I got my invite a few days ago. Went over there and am extremely disappointed. For a both knit and crochet forum - the crocheters are either very quiet or too ashamed to actually post. Don't get me wrong - I both knit and crochet - I just thought there would be interesting crochet talk - I was wrong. It's far more interesting here.

It is different than the 'ville. Have you looked for the crochet specific groups?

I'm in Crochet Un-raveled, United Hookers, Crochet Liberation, Tapestry Crochet and there is a Sock CAL group just to name a few. I'm also in a few knit and crochet combo groups. There lots of more social groups that have both knitters and crocheters. I joined a book club where we are reading specific books together. I'm on a few other book and audiobook groups.

Even w/o the forums there is so much info. I love keeping track of all my projects and with a click seeing how others did it.
