the yarn is a coarse alpca hand painted. i found the stitch online - i think it's called an open stitch or open weave. it's just alternates of single crochet and chain. the random colors formed an almost dna like structure (as in double helix). kinda creepy and cool. the scarf is also very warm and my cat loves it when i wear it.

it is! after crocheting it i washed in a little woolite and let it air-dry. it became the softest thing known to man. also my cat loves it - i think she can still smell the animal in it. and i love natural fibers - they seem to keep me warmer, although it can be pricey.
