Hi Jessie! :) can I ask, is the round lace blanket pattern on the web or if its in a book, can you tell me the name of the book? I'm loving working on blankets in the round and plan to try to find all the round blanket patterns that I can!

Major inspiration alert: If you don't watch Extreme Makeover Home Edition, check out their website at ABC.com about a little girl named Kassandra. She totally inspired my family and won our hearts! I talked to Volunteer Services at UMC Tucson where she gets treatments and I want to make them some blankets and send some books too (didn't tell them about the books want them to be a surprise!) I can't wait to get started...I have to haul through finishing the baby blanket gifts I'm working on edging and then dive head first into this UMC blanket drive! I just wanted to hug that little girl all day long.

There's a "How'd they do that" episode of the show on tonight...if you need to feel inspired you should check it out! I'm totally full of energy for it! (of course, that energy could also come from eating (you read that right) too many coffee beans. I know, don't say it. I'm weird...I have to find some chocolate covered ones. They're a delicacy, you know! LOL

xoxo to my blankie buddies!

Ro, I received the pattern from my step mom. I am not sure where it came from, but I called her tonight and she got it from a lady at work. She will ask her tomorrow and see if we can track down the source of the pattern for you. There are no markings on it, so I don't even know if it is from a magazine or a book or what. As soon as I find out, I will let you know.

Not sure if I can send it to you when I am done with it or if that would be against policy or what.

HI All -

I belong to a crochet club here in Ct. The club donates preemie blankets and hats to our local hospital. I've just started a hat/blanket set using the seed stitch. _jen

I've still got two baby gifts I'm edging but it got sidetracked by my new project...check it out! Butterflies Making one for my daughter and one for a little girl who I saw on tv. I hope I can get it to her...I'm also gonna donate blankets to UMC in Tucson in her honor.

Natalie I love that color! I think the SS will soften up really nicely. I made my first baby afghan with it and even after just one washing I noticed a difference. I've also heard other people says it softens up.

As far as I know Marine_Wife and Chatty this is an ongoing Crochet-along. lol, I'm too slow for deadlines myself so I avoid them. I've only finished one blanket so far but some of the others have finished many...:clap

Thanks everyone for all the nice compliments! I really love this color too, didn't know what I wanted to do with it when I bought it - but I saw "ocean" and thought ripple... and I'm happy with my decision, lol!

Although Ro's the authority on this thread, as far as I know anyone who's making a small blankie can join the CAL, no time or pattern restraints, and they can be a gift or for charity...

My sets will be donated to the Children's Hospital in Detroit, MI...

Hi everybody!

Well I'm just about finished with the baby gifts I have been working on and I want to do some more charity blankets!

Anyone want to join me in a drive to make blankets for UMC Arizona in honor of this little girl? If you want to donate a blanket, even just a big granny square, drop me a PM or an email and I will give you the details!

big hugs and happy blankie-ing! :hook

Ro that's a GREAT idea. I am part of a MOMS Club and one of our members has a son diagnosed with that same condition. He is currently doing well but they have fought a very long and tough battle. I definitely want to help with this one.

Oops, I was mistaken. Our MOMS Club members son was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma which is a cancer of the brain. I'd still love to help out with this though.

Question for Ro - I just started work on a pretty purple blankie made from a linen/cotton blend yarn, do you think that would be appropriate to send to Ariz.?

BTW - the sc ripple is dead, frogged, and reborn as simple granny ghan. Just have to finish the edge, which I can't believe I didn't do tonight, and make a hat to go along with it.

Hey N (did you see on my blog, I'm giving all my crochetville buds one letter nicknames like the Men in black? LOL) that sounds gorgeous and I am sure they would love to have it at UMC! I'm sure that they will match it up with just the right child for it.

I can't wait to see what it looks like. Great work everyone on all the pretty blankies!

Just should probably post this here too in case anybody missed it (I know Nat already saw it :) I made a toddler and micropreemie version of the butterfly blanket I've been working on and the patterns are up. They work up quick and come out pretty cute! The patterns are linked here http://www.psf.homestead.com/butterflies.html

I just discovered a WONDERFUL no-quota, no demands, tons of info and helpful patterns group online called Care Wear Volunteers that I cannot say enough about! If you need a hospital in your state to donate little blankies or preemie stuff to, check out their site, they have TONS of links by state! I will be putting info up about this group on the PSF website too, they asked to put some of my hat patterns in their next newsletter :)

Blankie on, people!

xoxo
