Cotton & silk spinner here

Hi there! :)

I'm new to the 'Ville but have been spinning cotton and silk for over a year now. I spin them on a top whorl spindle in a strange way -- sideways. :think

My left arm and hand are partially paralyzed so drafting is almost impossible for me. So I split the roving into about the size I want the finished yarn to be, pre-draft with both my hands and then spin it.

The resulting yarn is a wee bit thick and thin in places, but fairly even overall. I do have a Kiwi wheel, but we haven't made friends yet. ;)

I'm thinking of getting an electric spinner and hope it will increase my production since I love to crochet shawls. :c9

I'm looking forward to getting to know, sharing with and learning from ya'll. :)

Happy Spinning, :manyheart

Welcome Panda!

Wow silk & cotton are two of the hardest materials to spin (IMHO!)

I have a friend going through a divorce that is forced to sell her Babe electric spinner. She bought it just 2 months ago. She has only spun 3 things on it and they're still on the bobbins. I'll PM you with more information & pictures
