Hawaiian baby boy's nursery theme - need ideas HELP!!

Tiga

Question

So, my daughter's speech therapist is now pregnant (her physical therapist and occupational therapist have both had babies in the past year and no, I don't drink out of the water fountain there ), and has told me that she and her husband have picked a "surfboard, hula girl, Hawaiian" theme for the nursery.

Which totally means the baby pastel Baby Clouds starghan I was making for her is NOT going to match. I have a friend having a baby that it will be good for, though, so no worries there. It will have a home.

Anyway, I'm thinking of using Caron SS Brites to make a baby blanket for Miss Laura's boy, but I can't seem to find any "surfer" patterns.

Does anyone know of any?

I'm also posting this in Other Topics, as that forum gets tons of traffic, so if you answered there, you don't have to answer here, too. I'm the same person both places. I think. :think

I remember seeing a post not too long ago about a round ripple done in a fishy theme. she used Caron SS Brights and appliqued little gold fish all over it, and added clear pony beads for bubbles. I think that would work for you. :)

I posted in the other thread, but I just thought of something else. I think a surfboard shaped rug would be cool! I don't know if there is a pattern for it out there, or how to go about doing one. But it sound neet doesn't it?!

How about a simple blanket with a matching sea turtle (or "honu") toy?

Or you could figure out a way to make this turtle potholder ot the mit into an afghan block - or else applique several to a blue wavy ripple blanket

What about a ripple done in different shades of blue and white? Sort of like ocean waves...

That reminded me...

Some one on here did a blanket like that. It was really nice! She used blue and yellow. Like water and sand. I wish I could remember who that was!

I just did a search, and I found what I was looking for. It was theworm who had made it! Go to this thread to see the link to her blog. It's on post #18.

Okay, I think I'm going to with a wavy ripple in shades of blue, green and khaki, as those are the nursery colors, and I've now heard that idea in four places!

If I do it right, it should turn out looking like a beach. Hopefully.

You could make a fish with a matching color afghan. This is oldbaglady's pattern here at the 'Ville. Do the fish & matching afghan in the colors of the baby's nursery. You can do a simple baby afghan or I think the star ripple would look great with a matching stuff fish. But I wouldn't glue on eyes for a baby. I would crochet some and sew them on.

Lots of baby afghan patterns.

Add an octopus and mermaid.

And let's not forget a dolphin!
