Van Gogh's Closet

Lorraine, the pattern I've been using calls for large shells up through row 6, then it calls for 2 rows of small shells alternating with 2 rows of large shells. I changed the pattern a little. Since I do 2 rows of solid alternating with 2 rows of blended, I found it less confusing to do the first row of each pair of rows with a small shell (1 dc, ch 2, 1 dc) and then the second row of the pair with a large shell (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc). It was easier for me to remember that way and I haven't had any problem with it ruffling. Hope that helps. :crocheting

Purr congrats to you for figuring them out I want to try them but gonna wait til after the holidays since i want to hurry up and crank these ones out. I used an N hook on my blended with 2 strands and it didnt seem to ruffle I just alternated 2 rows of lg shells with 1 row of sm shell.

Joy, here is another method for adding points. Thanks to Judy for finding this one. It looks like it's fairly easy to do.

I'm still looking for the one I saw in navy and white.

I know there is another way to put in the extra points, but I don't remember where. I'll do some looking this week and see if I can find it.

I just saw this older topic on Crochetville talking about adding points:

She did it by adding crocheted squares in the valleys of her 12 point ripple to make a 24 point ripple.

Hope this helps!

Here's the quote where she explains her join as you go method for inserting the squares (earlier post tells where...I think it was in the valley of the row where she wanted to make the change)

I have been following this CAL for several weeks and your afghans are so beautiful. Thank you for sharing. It inspired me to start two that I'm working on. My first attempt. I can't wait to share the finished ones with you.
