Felting Question

Hi there. I'm making my first felted bags. I want to make a few pockets as I go. I figured out a way to do it, but I would have to make them using double crochets instead of the half doubles I'm using for the rest of the bag. Does anyone know if this is a problem. Will the dc's felt as well as the hdc's? Thanks.

hmmm....I suppose it depends......

 

If you were to make two swatches, one in dc and one in hdc, each 20 stitches wide by 10 rows, they would start out significantly different in size - and probably be significantly different sizes after felting too.

 

But if you made two swatches, one in dc and one in hdc, both 6" x 6" - they might felt up to a very similar size......

 

so....you might want to try felting some swatches first!

I have made felted purses, ipod cases, etc. that have a hdc on the body and then a dc or sc on the pocket. It has always worked for me!
