Joining Knitted Squares?

Is there a method for joining knitted squares? Is whipstitching the only way?

 

I can't seem to find a thing on it, or maybe I am using the wrong search terms at Google.

You could actually crochet around the knit squares and then join them as you normally do. If you don't want to do that you could always sew them together with the mattress stitch. Its not the same as whip stitching. I'll see if I can find a link that shows the stitch.

I'd use mattress stitch. It's invisible and not at all bulky. I second knittinghelp.com for great videos of finishing techniques (and a bunch of other skills).
