WOW!! you were a busy gal. I managed to send 4, and hope the colors are acceptable (could only find a claret to use for the burgandy color). They all add up though.

I waswatching our local 6:00 news and saw a piece on the Mosaic Yarn Shop in Blacksburg ( I live about 30 minutes away). They have collected 5100 crocheted and knitted squares so far, and plan to make 32 comfortghans for the families of the VA Tech victims.

Wow. Thanks for the update. That's absolutely wonderful. Boy oh boy are they going to be busy. Are you going to drive over on Saturday to help put them together?

On Mosaic Yarn's blog there is a video clip of the local news on the day of sewing the squares together:

I was unable to view the video clip (did they remove it from the website?), but they had a ton of photographs showing Saturday's incredible event.

It's still there for me. Not sure why you aren't able to see it. :(

I tried again and WAS able to view the video. It was heartwarming to say the least, even though no credit was given to the crocheters of the world.

Here are a lot of the afghans on display:

A video of the day. It's not great, doesn't get all the afghans, and has some silliness on it. Still worth a look:

A story of one blanket being given away:

Thanks for sharing that! Admittedly I turned off the video after a few minutes because it upset me that they could be so silly at such a special time. But maybe that was their way of dealing with the grief.

Any information on what happened with the other squares? Since they received over 5,000 squares ....

Gina? Are you on the board? Can you give us an update? Thanks.
