Harry Potter Theme CAL

Rachel, I'm the same way! Except that I get it in my head that I'll start several different things so I don't get bored....and then I don't. I have to work on one thing at a time, start to finish.

I have a baby afghan that I sorely need to get cracking on, since I have to crank out two of them by the baby showers next month. I'm about halfway through with it, but I know that it's going to take a Saturday of "I'm so sick of this taking up space" that I'll buckle down and have a marathon session.

Some of these HP items can help get you out of a rut. I'm thinking the snitch bookmark will be easy (I printed it only yesterday so I haven't started on it... lol). And the scarfs don't look too hard, especially the dog ones.;)

I keep several things going at once. I work good that way, then I don't get bored. Of course I do like to finish things up too!

Pensieve Harry Potter - link to my finished pensieve with the embroidery on it. I really like how it turned out... I might want one for myself... :yes

Now onto another HP project... not sure what this time.

I'm just now looking at this thread and wanted to say your pensive turned out great. If I had seen this while you were making this I would have sent this to you: http://www.amnh.org/exhibitions/vikings/write.html

You could have personalized it with a saying or something....

Darn it, I can't *not* make some HP stuff. I never read the books before the movies, but instantly fell for the movies. Now I just started reading them too. So..... I'm making myself (and maybe some for a couple other folks, depending on if they're nice!) some bookmarks very soon. :hook

Edit. Okay, I was toying with the idea of learning knitting, and this is gonna be my first project. It just looks so much nicer knitted, I gotta admit!

Thanks for the links of the runes. That is so cool!

Oh I did personalize it with a saying. I did the embrodiery in shorthand and wrote "kim and deborah friends forever". But the other would work too.

Yesterday after work I decided, last minute, to stop and get some yarn for a HP scarf. I didn't have the pattern and didn't feel like going online, so I just started it, doing dc. I bought simple soft in Autumn (a burgendy color) and a brights in Yellow. it looks good so far. I'm doing the SS type of scarf. I put in the DVD and went to the Quidditch match where I knew they were wearing the scarfs so I could get an idea. Then I just left it in as I was crocheting. It's going fast! I think the color blocks are longer on mine then the movie ones, but I like it anyway. it's hard to tell they were young and smaller then in the first movie... ;)

I'm working on a HP SS scarf for humans as well. One of the dogs for who I was crocheting went to the Rainbow Bridge, so I didn't want to send his Mom a scarf for him. I'm making a human one for her instead, using Wool-Ease. I bet the SS will feel SOOOO nice in a HP scarf, though.

I've made several of the HP scarves, both POA and SS style, and haven't ever used a pattern for them :blush .

Oh, and the doggie scarves are easy and quick, if you need something fast. I usually just get a neck measurement, take into account their height, and adjust the width and length accordingly. I leave a really long tail on the beginning chain, and use this to sew a loop on the end. Fringe the other, and voila!

The Laura's Blog Spot knitted bookmark is what I'll be doing as well :). They really do look VERY nice!

I have finished!:cheer:clap:yay:hook:c9 and any other smilies. I am so happy. I even found a shell button in my stash for it. I will try to get someone to take a picture of it outside on me so you can get a better idea. The pattern was quite easy to follow. The floor it is laying on is 12 inch tile so the sleeves are quite wide. I made the larger size even though I am not really big and it fits perfectly.

Thanks for helping me get this done. Now I can make some other Harry Potter stuff!

Oh my gosh, that Molly Weasley sweater is amazing! I can't wait to see more photos of it, especially modeled ones!

I did a HP human scarf this weekend, a SS-style Gryffindor for the owner of a dog named Griffen LOL! Mailed it off this morning, so it's on it's way to CA!

I just did blocks of single crochet and used Wool-Ease. I had a bunch of the scarlet left over from a frogged attempt at Frou-Frou from HH :).

My mom and grandma came to visit for a few days. My mom had never seen the movies or read the books (Harry Potter of course). She watched the first two movies and when the sweater came on the screen my mom recognized it right away and said mine looks just like it. I was happy to hear that. Of course it isn't exactly like it but I am glad it is easily recognizable.

I am flying through my WIPs so soon I can start on another Harry Potter themed project. I would really like to make sweaters with the initials on them.

Wow.... look at how cool these sleeves look on this cardigan!

Well, I got started on my book scarves today and will be done with the first one shortly. Hope to be able to post pics soon. :hook First thing I've ever really done in thread aside from just playing at it. They're super simple but yeesh all the ends. Well, at least it's easy to weave over most of them. ;)

Next to make a couple of snitch ones now!

Yeah, that's the thing I liked: the option to make your own sweater body. That way you can make one to your liking. I thought sleeves-only was not as appealing, but

Well, I don't know if I am skilled enough to try it, but it definitely appeals to me. Ah well. :)

I just finished my first book scarf - I can't wait til I can post a pic!

I think the sleeves are a finer yarn. But when I wanted one, that one was all that was available and I wasn't going to pay the high price for one pattern. I haven't even attempted the sleeves yet. From that link (http://asiknit.blogspot.com/2007/05/...oject-for.html) and click on her KAL link you can see the progress and they look good!

Debbi

PS: My scarf has become a wip:blush and it would be so easy to finish it...

I do believe you could join in anytime! :hook

So, here are my 2 finished book markers. Actually, the very first things I have made with thread, too. :hook Size 10, but hey, it's thread.

pics are clickable --

Book Scarf - Gryffindor colors, of course. ;)

Next, I'm going to *attempt* to knit one! I just love how the knitted one works. Plus, it's the other style of scarf.

And, my Golden Snitch bookmarker.

I changed the wings a tiny bit, because I see them as being longer and thinner. Just can't make them too much so, else it would not make a good marker, lol.

Hello, Iam making a Harry Potter doll for my mum as a birthday gift, thought I'd share what I have done so far.

Not really using a pattern as such, a combination of several different ones, will be making the clothes patterns up as I go along and plan to do him in his school uniform.
