Skeins

I bought my first skein of wool the other day. I have been knitting and crocheting for many years but before now my yarn has always come in convenient balls. Any tips on winding into balls would be helpful. Also what's the advantage of a centre-pull ball?

Thanks

Hi enmac,

The advantage of a centre-pull ball is that you can set it next to you while you crochet, and the yarn will come out of it nicely (as opposed to a non-centre-pull ball, that will roll all over the place; you can easily create one of these starting by wrapping the yarn around your hand, and switching directions to result in a ball).

Donna put a couple of great links on her blog, with instructions for how to create a centre-pull ball:

Let us know how it goes!
