a soft wool?

I'm looking for Lion Brand Fishermans wool, but its hard to find. (waiting for joanns.com to get it back in so i can get free shipping, and ebay doesn't have any). What other soft wools can i use? I want to knit my first scarf, and it calls for the fishermans wool.

What about Lion Brand's "Wool-Ease"? This yarn is my favorite to make wearables.

It is only 20% wool and the rest is acrylic, but it's really soft and priced nice. :)) I like its variations of colors as well.

It is 4-ply knitting worsted weight, and suggested hook is J-10.

i was considering wool ease but i was afraid it would be itchy. I guess I'll try it. I LOVE some of the colors, but my winter jacket is an olive green. I told dh i have to get a new coat so I can make more colorful scarves! hehe

You should be able to substitute any worstead weight yarn.

If you want 100% wool, Patons Classic Merino is nice & available at most big craft stores.

If you don't mind a blend, I love Patons Decor. It is 75% acrylic/ 25% wool but it feels very nice and is easy to care for.

You know what?

There is Fisherman's Wool that is 100% wool, comes in a big 8 oz skein and is only available as a buff color. I don't think it's particularly soft, though it's great for fulling.

Then Lion also makes a color of Wool-ease that called "Fisherman" color, because it's the typical buff color of fisherman sweaters, but it's still the acrylic/wool blend which feels much nicer. Maybe that's what the pattern was talking about?
