Acrylic hot pad?

Is it ok to make hot pads and potholders with acrylic yarns? I guell I thought they'd melt when heated too much.

it would be ok say to use one for picking up a hot handle to a pot or something but anything hotter would melt it..

I have a pattern calling for Red Heart Super Saver yarn for a set of hot pads. If I'm not mistaken a hot pad is for setting your really hot pans on, right? It just didn't sound right to me but it's a Red Heart pattern so I figure they know what they're talking about. Of course the first time I melt one I'll have to call Red Heart up.

as long as the pan wasnt hot off the burner it might work .. but i wouldnt trust it under something piping hot

i'm with elizabeth - nothing too hot. i'd go with peachesncream cotton - it's ww.

 

i'd definately go cotton - whatever brand.:twocents
