okay, i don't know the name of my answer (it may not even be one of the choices) so i may not be helping at all.

that said:

i think the feel and drape of the pound pkg of yarn that has the baby on the label with the pattern for the hooded baby blanket is great.... anyone know what i'm talking about:?

Maybe it's the LionBrand Pound of Love your talking about. It has a baby with a hood on the label.

So you would recommend that one eh? Is it 4 ply or 3?

i find caron softer than red heart but you could use the red heart and wash it with a liberal dose of fabric softner and it feel better ...

Yeah, after a couple of trips in the washing maching that RH Super Saver is just as soft as anything else. After I "discovered" that I decided that little extra bit of effort was totally worth it before I send anything out.

I prefer Caron, but Red Heart SS does tend to soften up in the wash. I have a brand new black RHSS poncho sitting in my laundry pile waiting to be washed so I can wear it over the holidays (my mom's house is a meat locker!!! ).

 

I have a "Dr. Who" scarf I made for my husband, and to get the colors as close as possible, I used a LOT of different yarn brands all together... Wool Ease, RHSS, RH TLC, Caron pounder, Caron Simply Soft... etc. Now that it's been washed, I can barely tell the difference between any of them. I can't recall if the cornmeal color I used was TLC or SS... but it feels pretty much the same as the khaki Caron Pounder I used...
