Giant Bobby Square Lapghan

I made a lapghan for my grandfather. His children bought him a recliner for Christmas and I thought it would be nice to make him a lapghan to use while in his recliner. I used the 12" Bobby Square pattern as basis for the pattern. I didn't want to sew squares together, so I just continued the pattern to make it into a full lapghan.

 

I'm going to be putting it in the mail next week. He has no idea I've made this for him. I just wish that I could be there to hand it to him. My mother said that she will take pictures for me. I'm so excited to give it to him!

That is beautiful. Really, really gorgeous. I never would have thought of just enlarging that square to make a whole afghan, but it is totally perfect.

Thanks you all! It worked up pretty quick too. I finished it in about a month. I could have finished it in two weeks had I worked on it every day

You know, I've made small afghans using that sqaure, and it never occurred to me to just keep going and make it larger. it looks fantastic! I love it! Great job! patty

Both the colour and your version of the pattern are perfect. This is one of the few crochet items I have seen that is totally masculine. Your Grandfather is going to be so happy.
