custom hook size

this may seem a very silly question but ...here goes.

I have been following a number of conversations about hand crafted wooden crochet hooks. There are so many beautiful ones, often they look like art pieces.

 

I was wondering whether the hook size - guage is equivalent to the more traditional hooks.

 

I guess I am wondering how those who make hand made hooks get the hook part right.... or right they get the hook part.

Yes, they are to guage. Or, at least, the ones I buy are. I love the Ozarktwist hooks - and in the beginning I pulled out my aluminum hooks and held them together. Always perfect. I don't even bother doing that anymore. I have seen some sellers on Ebay who say that the hook is "approximately" this size or that size - I don't buy those. If you aren't good enough to get it right, I'm not willing to pay for it, JMO.
