Miscellaneous Afghan CAL

I'm starting a new afghan today or tomorrow and would really like to have a CAL for encouragement. I didn't find a specific thread for the afghan I'm making or a thread that I thought mine would fit in. If anybody knows of an already established CAL for this sort of project just let me know and I'll join in there.

I want to invite anybody who is working on an afghan that doesn't fit in any of the other CAL's to join along here for encouragement.

The afghan I'm making is called "Elegant Clusters". It's in "Vanna's Favorite Gift Afghans". This pattern book was a ROAK gift to me and I adore it! :clap

I'll post a pic as soon as I make a bit of progress on it. Hoping to find others who are working on afghans to chat with! :yay

I made a CAL button if you would like to place it in your blog. Please save it and move it to you own host. Thanks!

Yay! I'm so glad you joined. :yay I joined the Flower CAL when I made my daisy afghan and I really enjoyed having others to discuss my project with.

That afghan is beautiful! Are you using white?

I forgot to mention my yarn. I'm using Simply Soft acrylic in off white. It's such a soft creamy color.

Wow...that Square Elegance pattern looks really pretty. I'm tempted to try that pattern, but am trying to stick to one project at a time. I'm currently in the middle of a Ripple Afghan I'm making for my husband. Hmmm...let me think about it. Maybe I could work on his afghan during the week and have the Square Elegance be one I work on during the weekend...lol.

Hi Aimee! Welcome!

I love Ripple Afghans! I was a brave kid when I first learned to crochet. It was one of my first projects. I still have it - one of the few things that I've made and kept.

Good luck and let us know how you're progressing. :cheer

I'm actually using granite (gray) and antique red (Homespun). It's for my sister's Harley room which is grays and blacks with some burgundy thrown in. It's a great stitch though, that pattern, and with the Homespun it's SOOOOOOOOOO warm (and heavy, this one has nearly 30 skeins of yarn in it)

Nope Aimee and Barbara Jean, i was NOT kidding. The family birthstone afghan I made I used 25 skeins and my sis wanted something as big if not bigger. I am down to 10 skeins remaining now on my sis's afghan and I"m hoping that I won't need more. I really want it to be wide enough to justify how long it is. I'm gonna go take a pic for you guys to give you an idea.

Joyce

Oh my! I overlooked that! How much of it is finished?

Here are some pics:

This is part of it

Here's continuation. There's just a little bit hanging off the back of the couch.

Here's a close up of the pattern, not a great picIM001174.jpg

I was about to ask if anybody would be posting pictures. It's so nice to see each other's projects. :clap Although... with my daisy afghan I posted a picture when I had just a few squares joined and wouldn't post another until it was finished. :yes

The gray and red really are great together. So you're over half finished. How exciting!

I'll join in on this one. I'm working on an afghan using the 200 blocks book but I've also started the Cable Sample Afghan in the Dec/Jan Crochet Today. I could use some help getting that one done too. My sister said she's like a ghan. So I'll need to get on that too.

Yeah, I hope to have it finished by a vacation at the end of March when I will deliver it to her. I think I can do it.

I'll be starting more after I'm done though LOL

Count me in too. I am currently working on a Hexagon afghan using HomeSpun. The individual hexagons work up fast enough but for some reason I just keep putting it aside and not working on it. This CAL will be great incentive for me!

i'm working on my own design. well the stitches are a basic granny square so those aren't mine, but i made a design on some grid paper that really looks pretty so I'll join since there is no CAL for mine.

I'm using caron simply soft white, black, lt. country blue, and dk. country blue

I'm in on this one.:) :) :) I just started a "Summer Lace" afghan. I found the pattern in the June, 1999 issue of CROCHET WITH HEART magazine. ( I have about 2 yrs worth of these in my book stash.) I'm using Caron Simply Soft Off White. Thanks for starting this CAL, BarbaraJean.:cheer

I'm working on an afghan for my niece as a college graduation present. Nevermind she graduated in December. She has to wait until May! :hook

Actually, if I can put some quality time in on it, I'm sure it can be done in about a month. Unfortunately I've had a cold for the last several days and don't feel like doing much but curling up in my chair and moaning. :( I'm finally starting to feel human again.

I'll try to post a pic or two in the next couple of days.

Welcome to all those who've joined in! I've edited my first post with a list of those who have joined and our projects. If I missed somebody PM me. Also I don't have an afghan listed for some so once you decide on one PM me and I'll add the afghan.

If you would like for me to post your progress in the first post as well just let me know.

Somebody is going to have to give me a little kick in the behind. :lol I've got a bag of brand new yarn sitting on the love seat just waiting for me to start but here I am... at my computer. ;)

Howdy. Count me in. I am itching to do an afghan - just haven't chosen one yet. I have Herschnerr's Blue Ribbon book - and there's a few in there..just have to make up my mind and buy the yarn.

Sorry I missed you yesterday. :hug

Check out the Wishing Well section of the forum. :) Lots of info on ROAK there. The book was a gift from a lady here at C'ville who saw it on my wish list and blessed me with it! :yay
