it's so hard trying to find a crochet smiliey to begin with!

What are the rules on property rights for smilies? Before i post the smiliey, am i allowed to modify a smiliey and post it?

i emailed the owner (or at least who i thought the owner was) and haven't received a response back...

I may not be the best to answer, but I'll give it a spin. I usually only take smileys from sites that specify it is okay to use them. I find the best ones at sites that create smileys themselves. However, because it is nearly impossible to track a smiley back to its creator, I operate on the honor system. I have to assume that the site I'm getting it from created it, or that they have permission to offer it for use to other sites. I have also visited other ezBoards and forums and found some few of our smileys that way, but not many. If anyone were EVER to complain about the use of a smiley here at Crochetville, it would be removed immediately.

I have found sites that are offering modifications of smileys that have already been created, for example Collectors Haven. :thinking2 I would have to say the same general rule would apply, if anyone were to complain about the use of an altered smiley, it would be removed.

And finally, YES, finding a crocheting smiley has proven impossible so far. I can almost guarantee that if you or anyone else have created/modified a crocheting smiley and would like to offer it for use to us here at Crochetville, we'd (I'd) snap it up in a heartbeat. Keep in mind that once it is in a public domain such as Crochetville, or other websites, it would be very difficult to keep it from being used elsewhere. But we'd love to have one. :heart Really we would! :thumbsup

I added all kinds of stuff, so much I'll probably forget which ones they are and not post them here. The big ones are on the complete list, as usual, though it doesn't mean I'm not in love with all of them.

I love the Snoopy! :snoopy

I watched It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown the other night with my girls and my oldest (she's 4) asked who that cute puppy was. :fluffy She's now been introduced into the world of Snoopy. :ducky

:star It's little but happy. :D! The twinkling star I had seen was part of a background template for a website and part of the TOS was not to break anything apart. It all had to be used together so I couldn't take it. And it was really cute too!

Donna,

I got all 3 of those emoticons for free from a public listing, so if you want to use any or all of them it is fine with me!
