Flower and Star Bookmarks (image heavy)

I inherited a set of steel hooks from my generous Grandma.

Not only were there a lot of different sizes, but

they came nested in a fabric case (always handy).

Also, she gave me the red thread and a balll of

white thread to complete the package. Thanks Grandma!

Well, I had to try out these bookmark patterns once

I had the proper tools. My first attempts had loose stitches

and it was especially hard to keep the purple thread tight

as it was slippery. I like the red thread the best because

it held the shape of the stitches.

I couldn't find a direct link to the Star Flower but here's the post by the designer:

How wonderful to have all those hooks from your Grandma!! The only hooks I have gotten are from my husbands' late Great Aunt. They are very old. One was a size 13 and had a steel cover on it so it wouldn't bend; the metal is so thin.

And the bookmarks are beautiful, too! :hook
