The Little Bear's Hooded Poncho

Recommended Posts

I hunted around for ages for a pattern for a hooded poncho, and when I finally found it, I wasn't happy with it. I tweaked the pattern, and I finished it... and I still wasn't happy with it! But the Little Bear loved it, and took it from me, and wears it all the time.

This one is made out of pure Australian wool out of the stash I inherited from my mamá when she passed away. It took a fair while to make (particularly in comparison to the fifty-odd No Brainer Ponchos I made that year) because it's flared and very voluminous.

That looks really nice & warm-I love hooded things! I've sewn a hooded cloak, but to crochet an entire poncho or waist-length cloak looks like it would take alot of effort, so I'm very impressed by your work!

Great! I like the way it flares out. You did a great job! I think this would also make a great pattern for a young girl. Did the pattern have a child size version? Little Bear looks wonderful and very happy with her poncho.

Thanks!

I'm not sure whether there was a child-sized version. You could have a look. I THINK I got the pattern from the Lion webbie. If I adapted it for The Little Bear, you could adapt it for a child, I think.

If it's not at Lion, let me know. I may have got it from somewhere else.

Hey CrochetMommy,

The pattern I adapted was the Day to Night Poncho, here:

There's also the far easier Fur-trimmed Bouclé Poncho here:

And this gorgeous little one (which I'd make without the design), the Pierrot Hooded Cape:

Hope this helps!
