BeadWorks Beaded Bag Competition: See post #64 .... MY Show Results

I got brave and submitted 4 of my beaded purses to the Beadwork Magazines Beaded Bag contest. This is a juried competition just for beaded purses. Well I just recieved notice that 2 of my purses made the first cut. So I shipped them off to them on Friday. I am just so thrilled to have made it this far with them. Regardless of how they do from this point. I am happy. It makes me feel good that I can represent Bead Crochet in this manner.

They also accepted my HANDbag.

 

Needless to say I feel honored, but just a bit nervous about the whole thing.

 

I received an email today with the list of winners on it.

These bags are my own creations. I started making crocheted beaded purses about 5 years ago when I wanted a beaded purse and couldn't afford one. So I came up with a method that works and have been making beaded purses ever since.

Kathy, congratulations!!! I know you must be thrilled! I love beading, but so far I've just done regular beadweaving (peyote stitch, brick stitch, etc.) with needle and thread. I need to someday branch out into beaded crochet! And one of your bags may just be the inspiration I need to do it!

Wow!! What a very cool HAND bag!!!! I gotta buy this pattern when it is published and try it out!! I have been wanting to try to make a beaded bag but they look kind of difficult. The hand-bag might be one I would do and and it would be fun doing it and it would be fun actually having one!!!
