Felting

Hello all,

Very recently I came across felting in one of Annies Attic catalogue.I was very thrilled to find a new craft.Now the problem is getting 100% wool.Here in India especially where I live all that we get is acrylic yarn and maybe some blend with acrylic.It is called cashmilon. I shall try and get the wool and then try to felt a bag. Can anyone tell me what is the reduction in size after felting.It sound very interesting. Hope I get a chance to do it very soon.

Different brands of wool will felt differently. I suggest you make a swatch of the yarn you are going to use, measure it before felting, then measure it again after felting to get an idea of how it will felt.

 

Just be careful! Once you start felting....you won't want to stop!

typically items will shrink by about 30%, but maybe as much as 50%, but you end up with a thick felt-like fabric
