Crochet Pattern Central....What's up?

Yes, the only thing I can think of is that part(s) of various internet connection routes are broken. Think of the internet as a very big interconnected spider web.

If one line breaks somewhere along the way, you can't get to the end place (CPC) from that string. Many service providers have special programs that help them find broken strings so they can take another route around the broken place and get you there. Some ISPs may have fixed their broken routes, while others haven't.

For those of you who still can't connect, I would suggest contacting your ISP and letting them know that you can't access CPC through them, but you know of plenty others around the country who can. They can go ping the site and program a work-around so you'll be able to access CPC again. If you notify them of the problem, they can usually fix it pretty quickly. Depending on the ISP, it could be some time before they find the problem on their own if no one alerts them to it.

Hah, well this is nuts. Today my ISP doesn't have it either. Though I can tell it's up right now, because I can proxy to it from a friend's connection. It's definitely not browser security settings. ;( It won't load in either of mine today, but did a few days ago.

Well, the one I use is private, but you can find a list of web-basedproxy servers on this site.

I don't use any of those so can't vouch for any sites listed on that directory, but I went to http://www.bypasslink.com for example and was able to put in http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory.php to pull it up :D

I'm chiming in - I haven't been able to access CPC since late last week, I thought it might be down for changes, etc. And I'm on broadband with Cox, who is a major inet provider. I am calling them to see what they say.

Don't you know I'm doing this on purpose so you can finish your WIPS? :lol:lol:lol (WIPS = Works in Progress.)

Just kidding...I'm so sorry some of you still can't get to it. If there was something I could buy to fix it or someone to call to fix it or someone to bribe to fix it, I'd gladly shop/call/wave chocolate under the appropriate nose(s). ;)

Well...I'm in South Dakota, and I can't get in either. I was so glad in one respect to come here and see this thread, but yet dismayed that there is a problem!! I use Netscape, IE and Firefox, and I've tried from home, from work, and from my Dad's house across the state. I've re-set my cable internet connection, my Dad's DSL connection, to no avail. I work in a hospital, so I can't reset anything there. lol

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear 'em. Just please not AOL, I refuse to use any AOL programs due to other issues. :-)

Here's what I've been doing:

I have MSN and when I try to get to CPC, it automatically kicks me back to a search page which gives me the option at the end of the description of the site, next to the web address to click on "cached page". You can see what I mean here. Clicking on that brings me to this page:

http://cc.msnscache.com/cache.aspx?q=6035816809996〈=en-US&mkt=en-US&FORM=CVRE

But once I get that far, if I click on Afghans, for example, I get kicked back to the search page, but with the link to the afghan page (see here) and have to click on that "cached page" link to get to the afghans:

http://cc.msnscache.com/cache.aspx?q=6036107834562〈=en-US&mkt=en-US&FORM=CVRE

I think it should work clicking on those links I gave even if you don't have MSN, or you can go to http://www.live.com/ and type in crochetpatterncentral.com and it will take you to the same page as the first link I gave.

It's a pain going back and forth, but it's a way in and when you need your CPC, you do what you have to to get it.:P

There is a long discussion about this on the Web Page Site. I tried this yesterday and it worked for me. I haven't been able to get on for weeks before this.

This is quoted by Marymaiden on that site:

Would you mind giving me the link to the "Web Page Site" where there's a long discussion? Thanks!

OHH I see what you're doing now. Basically, you can just search for the URL you wanted to visit, like www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/cats.php at Google or http://search.msn.com and then click on the Cached Page link to go visit it.
