Easy Hat

I made this hat and had a few people ask how I made it. Then I had orders for four more hats, from the people that I made them for. So I thought I would type up the pattern for you all. I hope you like it.

I made this hat in two different sizes. One for a toddler, with a size H hook. And one for and adult, with a size K hook. I used two different strands of sport weight yarn. You can chose your own two colors.

This is my very first thing to make from my head and no pattern to look at, so if you have any questions just let me know.

You can adjust the size of the hat with the size of your hook, or by leaving out round 13. You can also add or subtract from the rows at the bottom (rows 14-18).

Rnd 1: ch 2, 10sc in second ch from hook; do not join, place marker.

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around

20

Rnd 3: sc in next sc, 2sc in next: around

30

Rnd 4: sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next: around

40

Rnd 5: sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next: around

50

Rnd 6: sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next: around

Rnd 7: sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next: around

70

Rnd 8: sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next: around

Rnd 9: sc in each around

Rnd 10: sc in next 6 sc, decrease: around

Rnd 11: sc in next 5 sc, decrease: around

Rnd 12: sc in next 4 sc, decrease: around

Rnd 13: sc in next 3 sc, decrease: around

Rnd 14-18: sc in each around

A decrease is like so insert hook in next stitch yarn over pull through stitch you'll have 2 loops on your hook then you insert hook in next stitch yarn over pull through stitch then yarn over & pull through all 3 loops on hook

Sorry guys, I didn't notice that this had even come back up again. I thought I had put some pictures in this thread. I guess I'll just have to add them again. I forgot I even made these hats, untill now. And what do you know, this was my first pattern!

Thanks for sharing ~ is this the stocking hat that you made?? :hook
Sorry but no, it's not that one. I wrote this back in February. I am going to be working on making a longer version of the stocking hat that I made. I am going to take notes too.

Do you have a picture?

Yes I do!

This is very similar as to how I make my winter hats. The only difference is that hours has a nice little puff, or space so it does not crush your hair. Mine you simply crochet around like a potholder and then at the end of round 5, I just crochet in each stitch until it is long enough. Lovely pattern.
