Anyone want a Carrot?

My son got to bring home the "class pet" yesterday - Rascal the Rabbit. It was from a Build-A-Bear Workshop that his teacher did. My husband, who supports my crochet habit - um - business, suggested that I make Rascal a carrot. Well, here's what I came up with:

(In the last photo, Ranleigh's holding his own build-a-bear Spike).

I didn't write down exactly what I did and this is NOT a tested pattern - just use your own judgement to see how long/wide you want your carrot.

Note: pattern is done in continuous rounds. mark beginning (or last, like I do) stitch.

Carrot:

1) Ch 2, 3 sc in 2nd ch (3)

2) sc in each stitch

3) 2sc in each st (6)

4-5) sc in each stitch

6) 2sc in first st, sc in next - repeat around (9)

7-10) sc in each stitch

11) 2 sc in first st, sc in next - repeat around (12)

12-?) continue until you have desired length

STUFF

Decrease - 2sctog, sc in next around until you have around 4 stitches.

Fasten off, leaving long end to sew top closed.

Green Stuff :hook :

1) Ch at least 10 stitches (you can make it longer if you want)

2) Ch 2 additional stitches, 3 dc in 3rd ch from hook

3) 3 dc in each ch except last st

4) sl st into last st, fasten off leaving long end to sew to top of carrot

Sew green stuff into top of carrot. ENJOY!

That's a great carrot, but you have an incredibly handsome young son!!! May I introduce him to my granddaughters??? :yes

:laughroll You are so sweet! (That's not one of his best pictures either!:blush )

You are welcome to introduce him - he's not shy and has a slew of girlfriends. He's talked about chosing between 2 sisters at the bus stop (He's in Kindergarden; they're in 8th and 6th grades!). He's going to make a great dad one day - he and his oldest sister play "family" all the time.

(he's the oldest but has two younger sisters - he calls Claire his older sister not because she's older than him but because she's older than Avery)

Here are some photos of all of us:

My dog's favourite treats are carrots and other vegetables and fruits. I've been looking for a crocheted carrot that I could make for him! He loves stuffed animals too. He's very easy to make things for!
