another attempt,need poncho recipes... uh patterns or ideas

Hello, my 9 yr daug wants me to make her a poncho. I have done some crocheting over the years, but it's all been flat stuff made in rows. My gramm taught me by watching her do the stitches, but I have trouble reading the instructions.:read I get confused and bogged down in all the abbreviated instructions. :th I can learn fast by watching, but something is lost when i try to read the directions.

Can some one recommend an easy pattern that I could try?

This incredible crochet poncho looks real easy. It's just one big rectangle that gets folded back upon itself.
