Hey! That is my favourite thing in that magazine! It's so beautiful. I haven't done any cable crochet before and I'm having difficulty with it. I plan to stick to it however, because I really want to give it to my sister for her birthday. I guess that practice makes perfect, right?

I'm actually working on the purse, but when I get to round 6 (RS) it seems like the 17 hdc's come first and then the FPtr's for the centre pattern. Everything up to this point works out for me and then it's off from this point. If anyone else is working it up - can you let me know if I'm maybe doing something wrong? :) I love how the diamonds and the pattern work up, even though I'm only round 6!

Thanks, Alex, for a great bag design. I got the magazine last week and this was one of the patterns I liked the most. I had no idea that you had designed it! Congratulations!

I REALLY love your bag!!! It's a shame on me that I can't figure out where is the right place to join yarn in round 3 - clockwise or counterclock?

Clockwise or counterclockwise depends if you are left of right handed. You have the wrong side (WS) of the work facing you for round 3. Other side to the previous row. Oddly enough I didnt have the fastening off and joining in the original pattern I sent them, go figure.

I have at least 5 skeins of Wool-Ease that could be perfect for this bag!

Awesome design and thank you!! I have been thinking of designing a crochet-cabled bag myself after seeing all the pretty knit ones!

Here is my bag:

Here is the lining:

I just used the wizard fabric because it was what I had and because my sister loves wizards. She had emailed me some knitted cabled bags and loves the ribbon so when I saw your pattern in the magazine, I immediately went out and bought the yarn, handles and ribbon. I love it. Everyone who has seen it loves it.

I gave it my own "personal touch" (translation: Many errors)

Thank you for such a beautiful bag.

I got informed of a mistake in the published pattern in round 6.

Round 6 would be: Sl st in next st, ch 2, HDC IN NEXT 16 STS , *FPtr around next post etc.

Did anyone else have problems with this row?

P.S. HER your bag looks great!

Hi Angelhair! I had trouble with row 6...I actually had emailed the editor of FC Easy Crochet asking about it, and they wrote back last Monday to tell me it was correct. But...I got an email today telling me they were checking on it. So, it might be my fault you heard about it today. I actually figured it out on my own after their first response to me (I just hate being wrong...). Thanks for posting this here - it's easing my mind!

And I LOVE the purse! I was determined not to abandon it after the confusion (believe me, that's a testament to your beautiful design! This is by far the nicest crochet cable purse pattern that I've seen). Thank you so much!

Hi Tami,

I'm glad you liked the pattern. It must have been you they emailed me about! Looking at the instructions and looking at my purse it looked correct, but they started the rounds at a different place from my original pattern that I submitted is why I didnt spot the turn thing.

Does this correction sound right?

[Round 6: Sl st in next st, ch 2, HDC IN NEXT 16 STS , *FPtr around next post etc. ]

It would be so much easier with a stitch diagram. I think more magazines should use those.
