started spinning class yesterday!

My local historical museum has a 6 week series of classes on spinning. I'm taking it with a girlfriend. It was so much fun! Yesterday we mostly talked about the history of spinning, ginned (sp?) and carded some cotton, handspun some cotton, and then started with a drop spindle and some merino. We all got to take a drop spindle home to to practice. Any great websites for technique? I'm not sure what it's called, but it's got the circle at the bottom, not the top.

 

I can't wait till we work up to wheels!

I started on a wheel. It's so much easier than a drop spindle.

You have a bottom whorl spindle as opposed to a top whorl spindle.

Have fun! I have both a bottom whorl and top whorl spindles and have learned to like my top whorl the best. I just got my first? spinning wheel which I LOVE.

I started with a bottom whorl spindle then went on to a wheel. I'm more proficient with the wheel, but have a friend that can spin just as fast on a spindle but can't spin on a wheel to save herself!
